HAPPY NEW YEAR DOLLS!
I hope each and every one of you had a lovely festive season, and I wish you all the best for the upcoming year. I would also like to thank each and everyone of you for keeping up with my blog, I know I haven’t had the best track record on blogging but hey it’s a new year and I’m going to try and catch up. Today I’m going to be writing about eyelash extensions and my experiences and knowledge thereof.
Eyelash extensions are amazing, they take your makeup and your face to another level and ensures that you always are on point even on your-not-so-pretty days. There is however a downside to getting your eyelashes done, which I wish I had known prior to getting them done.
If you are reading this and have no idea what eyelash extensions are or what I’m talking about, what world are you living in?
Well, let me break it down for you. Eyelash extensions are individual lashes which are applied to your natural lashes which enhances the length, thickness and fullness of your own lashes, its usually done by a certified technician, you can do it by yourself but its a tedious task; these extensions which are done by a technician will cost you an arm, yes, really! its quite expensive, although totally worth it and it will last for about 4-6 weeks or less. False eyelashes and eyelash extensions are not the same thing, false eyelashes can be taken off immediately after wearing them, whereas lash extensions lasts for quite a while.
The perk of having these lash extensions is that you look fabulous all the time without even trying, you even wake up fabulous! Who doesn’t love waking up that way! However it takes hours to get them done, and you might have to lay down with your eyes closed for up to three hours which makes you quite cringy!
You also might have to alter the way you sleep, if you sleep on your face on in any other weird face position, when you wake up your eyelash extensions are good be all weird, heading in all directions. In the morning when you wake up, to wash your face you will have to be extremely careful around the eye area and when you shower too. If you are like me and shower more then twice a day then they don’t last as long and they not as pretty after each time I shower.
And did I mention that they are quite high maintenance? Each day you are required to brush out your lashes, I used an old mascara wand. After over two weeks, you most likely will have to go fill them in as the lashes may start falling off, and it could cost up to R200,00 or more, depending on the eyelash clinic. Also its quite challenging putting on eyeliner and removing off your eye makeup has to be done with make-up remover wipes, and should be done carefully as a lash could come off whilst you wiping.
Lastly, when you have extensions on, your normal eyelashes don’t grow and frankly when I took them off they looked shorter; if you continuously have extensions your eyelashes will be like little stubbles. Each eyelash starts falling off on their own, but if you do decide to take them out on your own cos as they start falling out it looks like spider webs, sort of, then you can use baby oil to carefully take it, however this can be extremely painful.
Yes, I do wish I knew this before I got extensions, although I don’t think I would have changed my mind, because lets face it, lashes are everything! I will most likely go and do them once again, although I’ll now know what to expect.
What are your thoughts or experiences regarding lash extensions? I’d love to hear about it!
